Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts
Wanted to participate in the Buckhorn District Scouting Expo to be held March 12 at Emery High School. All packs and troops are encouraged to have a booth or exhibit. The Expo will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and booths should be set up the evening before. Anyone interested should contact laren Huntsman at 381-5185 to make arrangements for a booth. The more booths, exhibits and participation that we have the more fun and successful it will be. Those that sign up early will get their first choice on booth location.
Cleveland Rabies Clinic
Cleveland Town will sponsor a rabies clinic on Feb. 26 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery storage building, 200 North 600 East. Dr. Griggs will be the vet this year. All dogs are required to have a current rabies shot before they can be licensed for the new year. All dogs must be licensed by Feb. 28.

County Girls Softball
Emery County Girls Softball is looking for representatives from each of the towns and also need to form a new Board of Directors for the 2005 softball season. Valentine’s Carnival

Huntington City Dog Licenses
Huntington City 2005 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1 and they may be purchased at Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on Feb. 26 with Dr. Brent Griggs. Clinic will be from 9 a.m.-noon.

Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. YouthLINC Service Scholarship
The YouthLINC Service Scholarship aims to recognize the top five young humanitarians in the state of Utah. All high school and college aged students are eligible to apply. We are hoping that by rewarding young people for dedicated service to their communities, we will encourage other young people to become involved in helping others. High School Students
The Interamerican University Studies Institute will offer two programs in Latin America this summer for high school students. Costa Rica, Pura Vida, focuses on biology and includes Spanish immersion as well. Artes en Mexico provides an opportunity to work with professional Mexican arts teachers while improving Spanish skills. Individual homestays, excursions and small group instruction are features of both. The programs are open to students between the ages of 15 and 17 who will have completed two years of high school Spanish by June. Scholarships available for each program. CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
