Harmony Circus comes to Castle Dale
Harmony Circus is coming to Castle Dale for two performances on April 14. Show times will be 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Building, 75 South 400 East. The circus is billed as the Greatest Little Show. Fun for the entire family.
EC Democratic Convention
The Emery County Democrats will be holding their county convention and dinner on April 16 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael (96 No. 100 E. in Castle Dale). All interested people are welcome to attend. Democrat County Commissioner candidate will be voted on and state party officer candidates will speak. Congressman Jim Matheson will be the Keynote speaker. Dinner, entertainment and prize drawing will also be provided. Tickets will be available at the door or contact your precinct chair or Kim Player or Duane Collard.
EC Republican Convention
The Emery County Republican Convention will be held on April 13 at Huntington Elementary beginning promptly at 7 p.m. Registration for County Delegates will begin at 6:15 p.m. All Emery County residents are encouraged to attend this convention where Republican Gubernatorial, State, Congressional and local Commissioner Candidates will address the convention. The convention hall will be open at 6 p.m. for the public to meet and visit with the candidates.
RSVP Garden Party
Seniors of Emery County are welcome to attend a Garden Party at the Castle Dale Senior Center on April 19 at 1 p.m. Come and learn how to take care of your gardens. There will also be painting of Happy Factory cars.

New Category for Emery County Fair Entrys
Scrapbooking is the new category for the Emery County Fair this year. Pull out your best pages to enter into the competition, or better still, you have four months to construct pages for judging. There will be five days of scrapbook demonstrations held at the county recreation building, If you are interested in presenting a demonstration, contact Jerilyn Mathis at 381-2554 (work) or 381-2466 (home) for further information.
Volunteers Needed
Can you spare a “time?” That’s right, just a few hours of time once a week to make somebody happy. You know how good you feel when you do something for someone else. If you’re a senior citizien with time on your hands please call, you’ll be glad you did. 653-2295, 687-2458 or 748-2650.
Special Needs Dance Program
Special Needs Dance registration will be held April 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. The program will be April 15-16. BLM Internet Service
In a ruling issued on March 24, the US Court of Appeals has temporarily restored internet connections for the BLM and other Dept. of Interior agencies. This ruling will remain in effect until further review by the court.
Poster Contest
Hey kids! The Castle Dale Library is sponsoring a poster contest. The theme for the contest is “Something for Everyone at the Library.” Please include the theme on your poster. Bring posters in by April 16. Posters will be displayed during national library week, April 19-23. Winners will be announced April 23 at 4 p.m. during Book Talk.

Huntington Lions Club will hold an Easter egg hunt in Huntington on April 7 at 2 p.m. at the city park on Main Street.
Emery Town History Book
Emery Town is reprinting the original Emery Town 1883-1981 history book. Advance orders are being taken at the Emery Town Office. Call 286-2417 to reserve your copy. Plans are underway for the 24th of July celebration. Anyone wishing to set up a booth should contact city hall. Arts and Crafts are also being added to the celebration this year. Either for display or for sell. The annual talent show and games are also scheduled.

Orangeville Burn Permits
Open burn window is March 27-May 2. Come into the city hall for a burn permit before you burn. Individuals who do not obtain a burn permit may be subject to penalties.
Teacher of the Year

Cleveland Burn Window
Cleveland Town burn window will be March 22-May 2. Cleveland Town now requires everyone who plans a controlled burn to obtain a burn permit from the town hall. For more information, call 653-2310. This includes yard waste.

Castle Dale Easter Egg Hunt
All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to attend the awesome Castle Dale Easter Egg Hunt at Cheddar Field on April 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m., sharp. Remember to bring your Easter baskets to load up with prizes and candy. This is a free event sponsored by Castle Dale City and youth council.

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits on April 8, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Emery High Rodeo
The Emery High School Rodeo Team will host their annual rodeo April 16-17 at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. The rodeo will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. A moment to honor the seniors on the team will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Ferron City Controlled Burn Season
Controlled burn season will be March 27-May 2. Stop in at city hall and fill out a burn permit before you burn. Calling in burn information to city hall will no longer be acceptable. Individuals who burn without signing a permit may be subject to penalties.
Scout A Rama
Scouts have you been working on your booth for the Scout A Rama that will be held on May 1 at the Emery County Recreation Building in Castle Dale? Cub Scouts do you have your posters made? The Cub Scouts will be around selling tickets for this. Ticket sales will begin April 1. To make this Scout A Rama successful, we all need to have a booth. Let’s make this the biggest Scout A Rama ever. Support the scouting program.

Ferron Reading Program
Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read 1 million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. Record keeping forms are available at Ferron Elementary, Ferron Library and Ferron City Hall during business hours. Forms may be returned to the same locations. Totals will be recorded every Friday and posted on the marque in front of the school. For information contact the school at 384-2383.
CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA coordinator at 435-381-5595.

AARP Driver Safety
AARP Driver Safety is coming to the Castle Dale Senior Center on April 29-30. This class was formerly known as the defensive driving class. The eight hour course will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day. Biking by Choice
Biking by Choice is sponsoring a bicycle ride through Utah to remind Utahns about the Utah donor registry. The ride will begin on the Idaho border in late April and rides will be on the weekends to continue through the state. A main event ride will begin in Huntington and will continue for six days through the heart of Utah. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Building Bridges.” We encourage everyone to join in and submit an entry. Prizes will be awarded this year. The exhibits will become a thing to remember. There are many talented people in this county and the exhibits in last year were among the best in the state. Help keep the number of exhibits growing and improving.
