Green River Airport to Receive Funds

Senator Bob Bennett announced $10.9 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants for runway improvements and airport enhancements at nine Utah airports.
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury and General Government, Bennett is responsible for legislation that funds the U.S. Department of Transportation, including the FAA, each year. Airports and appropriations along with the grant amount and project description listed below.
Bolinder Field-Tooele Valley (Tooele County) $150,000
This grant provides funds to construct a new taxilane. The airport is currently experiencing significant growth, and the new taxilane will provide for additional space for the construction of hangars.
Canyonlands Field (Grand County) $243,041
This grant provides funds to proceed with Phase II of the current apron expansion, install guidance signs, and rehabilitate runway 321 markings. These improvements will increase airport capacity and enhance safety and airport operations.
Cedar City Regional Airport (Iron County) $3.5 million
This grant provides construction funds for a new terminal facility to replace the current, outdated terminal. The new terminal will separate commercial service aircraft from general aviation traffic.
Green River Municipal Airport (Emery County) $150,000
This grant provides funds to design a portion of the parallel taxiway and install airfield guidance signs. Construction of the partial parallel taxiway is the second phase of the full-length parallel taxiway designed to eliminate back taxiing at the airport.
Milford Municipal Airport (Beaver County) $150,000
This grant provides funds to remove obstructions that penetrate the primary surface located off the centerline of the runway. The obstructions will be graded to the primary surface to meet design standards and promote additional safety.
Nephi Municipal Airport (Juab County) $2.025 million
This grant provides funds for Phase II of a new runway. Improvements, which are needed to accommodate the existing and projected aircraft mix and improve the FAA design and safety standards associated with these aircraft operations, include paving the new runway, and installing runway lighting system and perimeter fencing.
Salt Lake Municipal 2 (Salt Lake County) $150,000
This grant provides funding to update the Master Plan Study and identify future airport needs.
Salt Lake City International (Salt Lake County) $3.9 million
This grant provides rehabilitation funds for the deteriorating pavement of Taxiway H.
Spanish Fork-Springville Airport (Utah County) $730,000
This grant provides funds for land acquisition needed for runway approach protection.
