Warm Pakistan


The Palmers from Salt Lake just completed a blanket drive for the survivors of the recent earthquake in Pakistan. Thousands are suffering from a severe winter, living in tents and damaged structures. They are looking for any donation to help ship the blankets overseas. Accounts are set up at Zion’s Bank and America First Credit Union under the account, Jodie Lynn Palmer, Warm Pakistan Project.

Easter Egg Hunt


The Cleveland Elmo Youth Town Councils will sponsor this years Easter Egg Hunt on April 8 at 12 noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. So bring your baskets and don’t miss the fun in Cleveland. 4-H Family Photos

Archaeology Camp and Field School

Dinosaur Paleontology Camp


A Dinosaur Paleontology Camp will be held on June 19-23 at the CEU Bone Preparation Lab and Price River Quarry Site. The workshop is designed for incoming 10 through 12 grage high school students. Studnets have to have a 3.0 grade point average or a letter of recommendation from a science instructor. The cost is $200.

Macbeth


The Tony Awarding-winning Utah Shakespearean Festive’s 2006 Macbeth production is coming to Green River High School. Workshops for students will be held at 3 p.m. on March 24 with a performance open to the community at the school that evening at 6 p.m. All tickets are $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at the Community Center.

2nd Annual Baseball Camp


There will be two baseball camps at the Huntington Complex on March 24-25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost for the camp is $60 or $30 for one day. If you would like your child to have some one on one time with an instructor, the cost is $25 for a half hour. They can learn in and out fielding, pitching, catching or hitting. Emery County commodities cooking classes will be held on April 12, May 10 and June 14 at the Emery County Food Bank and Clothing Exchange (40 South Center, Castle Dale). They will be held from 10 a.m.- 12 noon.

Juanita Varela Childs Scholarship


A scholarship is being set up in the name of Juanita Varela Childs, who was killed in a tragic car accident. At the time of her death, she was a teacher at Carbon High School. A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. BLM Seeks Nominatioins for Utah’s RAC


Utah residents interested in the management and conservation of public lands have an opportunity to become directly involved through participation on the BLM Utah RAC. Council members rpovide advice and recommendations to the BLM concerning the use and management of 22 million acres of public land in Utah. Nominations are being accepted for five positions on the RAC. Those positions are: one commodity; three non-commodity; and one local area interest. Miss Emery Seeks Contestants


The Miss Emery Pageant will be held on July 15 at 7 p.m. The pageant committee is seeking those girls who would like to participate in the pageant.

Science and Engineering Fair


The Utah Science Center and the University of Utah are seeking entries for the 2006 Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair from 5-12 grade students and also adults to serve as judges and in other volunteer positions. A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number.
