George Grant Farrer
MIDWAY, UT- Our loving father, George Grant Farrer, age 72, passed away Sun., April 9, 2006, in Salt Lake City. Born August 7, 1933, in Heber City, the son of Karl William and Mary Ann Giles Farrer. Grant married his sweetheart, Diane Stewart, on Feb. 2, 1951, in Heber City.
Dad worked as an auto mechanic, as well as many different construction jobs and as a dairy farmer-rancher. He moved to Orangeville in 1969 to become a range cattle farmer. He moved back to Midway in 1979, where he and mom built their new home. After a few years he retired and spent many years caring for Diane. Dad loved auctions, always looking for a good deal. He even traveled to Wendover to try his luck. The past four years were hard on Dad. The loss of mom and his failing health limited his quality of life.
He is survived by four children: Glenn Farrer, Bill (JoAnn) Farrer, Sandra (Larry) Brown, Alan Farrer; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane, Aug. 4, 2001; son, Brent, Sept. 4, 1998; daughter-in-law, Zannie Farrer, Sept. 5, 2002.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., April 13 at 12 noon at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Heber City Cemetery.
Ruby Seeley
HELPER- Ruby Theora Seeley Taylor passed away April 5, 2006. She was born March 18, 1906 in Castle Dale, the eleventh child of Orange Seeley, Jr. and Elizabeth Christine Petrine Andersen. She was the last living of 14 children. Married William Melvin Taylor on May 13, 1926. Marriage solemnized in the Manti Temple May 4, 1933. They have a love affair that will never end. Mel passed away Nov. 19, 1985. Parents of four daughters, Arlene, Rayona, Rita Mae and Dixie Lea.
Mother served in many positions throughout her life in her LDS faith. She dearly loved Relief Society and was very proud of her 60 plus years commitment to the visiting teacher program, keeping a 100 percent record.
Mother loved her flowers and yard and made the hillsides bloom. She was very proficient at handwork.
She is survived by daughters Arlene (Lynn) Wilstead, Rayona (John) Anderson. Rita Mae (Merlin) Farish, Dixie (Jim) Richens, 25 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, 25 step great-grandchildren, 13 step great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Thelma Smith of Oregon and LaVon Seeley of Spring Glen. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven sisters and six brothers.
Funeral service held Mon. April 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Helper.
The family would like to acknowledge the Woodland Park Care Center and Odyssey Hospice in Salt Lake City for their loving care.
Christina Kakatsidas
PRICE-Christina Terezakis Kakatsidas, age 77, died April 3, 2006 at Castleview Hospital in Price after a brief illness. She was born June 24, 1928 in Cania, Crete, Greece to Petros and Sophia Tsouhlaraki Terezakis. Married Jim George Kakatsidas, Jan. 14, 1962 in Cania, Crete, Greece; he died Feb. 10, 1999.
Christina was an active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. She lived for her family and was happiest when she was caring and cooking for her family and friends. She loved visiting and always made sure that everyone had something to eat before they left. Christina enjoyed caring for her roses, plants, and she always looked forward to her trips to Greece.
May her memory be eternal.
Survived by her daughter, Sophia (Mark) Roth, Price; loving granddaughter, Anna, Greece; two brothers and one sister, Antonios (Maria) Terezakis; Nikos (Zaharoula) Terezakis; Katina (Emmanuel) Hatzimanolakis, all of Athens, Greece; sister-in-law, Maria Koumandakis; brother-in-law, Harry Kakatsidas, both of Salt Lake City; and many loving nieces, nephews, and a community of friends. Preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Emmanuel.
Funeral service will be Tues. April 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service was held Monday at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchells on Monday and will be at the church one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Interment in the Price City Cemetery.
Tempie Brasher Childs
Tempie Brasher Childs, age 87, passed away April 9, 2006 in Price. She was born on May 25, 1918 in Huntington to John William Brasher and Mary Elvira Gillespie Brasher. She married Grant R. Childs on Oct. 28, 1939 in Huntington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 18, 1966.
Tempie enjoyed serving others as a nurse for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and reading. After the death of her husband she successfully served three LDS missions.
She is survived by her children; Richard (Dawn) Childs; Diana (Charles) Taylor; and Hope (Brent) Hoffman; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Fay Roper of Huntington and Clara Jorgensen of Lehi.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, sisters, Elfie Reed, Flora Rowley and Fawn Kizerian; brothers, Guy, Kenneth, Ruben, Reed and Clarence.
Funeral services will be held on Fri., April 14 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center. Friends and family may call Thurs., April 13 at 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services on April 14 at the Huntington Stake Center. Interment Huntington City Cemetery.
Newel Nelson
CLEVELAND- Newel Nelson, 87, passed away April 7, 2006 in Price, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 19, 1918 in Gunnison to John and Birt Madsen Nelson. He married Madge Tucker Nov. 5 1938 in Price, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He worked in the mines, drove truck and worked as a rancher/farmer all his life. He was part owner of Nelson & Allred Rodeo contractors for 20 years. He was his dear wifes caregiver for the past 10 years. His greatest joy was his family and had a special nickname for each of his grandkids, whom he dearly loved.
Newel is survived by his wife of 68 years, Madge of Cleveland and their children and their spouses: Mickie and Clifton Carter, Lynn and Doloris Nelson and Flora and Richard Motte, all of Cleveland, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by Ethel Roth of California. Preceded in death by infant daughter Berta, brother Bud and sisters Charlotte Otterstrom, Nellie Pehrson, Kate Larsen, Florence Tallerico and Edna Perry.
Funeral services will be held Tues., April 11 at 12 noon in the Cleveland LDS Chapel. Friends called Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Cleveland City Cemetery.
Dorthy Pilling
PRICE- Dorthy Eunice Richmond Pilling, age 77, passed away peacefully April 6, 2006 in Price. She was born April 7, 1928 in Maywood, Calif. to Edgar N. and Edith Dalton Richmond. Married Dale C. Pilling, Aug. 31, 1949 in Nevada.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dorthy enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping in the Boulders and collecting arrowheads. She loved spending time with family, her trips to Las Vegas and attending the family reunions in Monticello.
Survived by her husband, Dale Pilling, Price; son, Mike Pilling, Huntington; daughter, Dalene (Joe) Spink, Price; sister, LaDona (Joe) Rukavina, Price; brother, C.T. (Colleen) Richmond, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Merlene Anderson, Castle Dale; seven grandchildren, Mike, Adam, Jessica, Zach, Krisdale, Kensie and Branden; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, son, Scott Pilling; brother, Clyde Richmond.
Funeral service, Mon., April 10 at 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchells Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Annie Kandaris
PRICE-Annie Kandaris, age 76, passed away April 5, 2006 in Price. She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in Sunnyside to Pete and Foto Galanis Kandaris. Member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Annies warmth and genuine friendship was always expressed by her smile and laughter. Annie graduated from Carbon High in the class of 1948. One of her greatest joys in life was making sure that her great-nieces and nephews were spoiled.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Castle Country Care Center.

Funeral service was held Mon. April 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service was held Sunday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Athanasios Emmert officiating. Family was at Mitchells Sunday and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Eli Kolovich

CLEARFIELD/PRICE-Eli Kolovich, age 79, passed away April 6, 2006 in Provo. He was born Aug. 19, 1926 in Hiawatha to Mike and Julia Svilar Kolovich. Married Irene Kontas Nov, 10, 1957 in Price; she died Aug. 10, 1999.
He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Eli was a life member of the Price Elks Lodge #1550 and the American Legion. He graduated from Carbon High School, College of Eastern Utah and the University of Utah. He served in the US Army during World War II.
Eli worked as a CPA for many years in the area and later retired from Hill Air Force Base. He enjoyed photography, traveling, fishing, and visiting with his family.
Survived by his sister, Jennie K. Colosimo, Provo; six nieces and nephews, John M. Colosimo, Portland, Ore.; Gloria C. Hohrein, Greeley, Colo.; Frank E. Colosimo, Kingsport, Tenn.; Julia A. Kolovich, Karen L. Kolovich, both of Salt Lake City; and Kent M. Kolovich, Seagrove Beach, Fla. Preceded in death by parents, sisters, Mary, Milka, brothers, Joe, James, and Mike.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Courtyard at Jamestown in Provo for all their loving care shown towards Eli and his family.
