Quilts of Valor


Quilts of Valor, a program that provides quilts to each injured serviceman or woman, is still being organized in Emery County. This program needs funds for postage to ship the quilts out. For more information contact Hazel McMullin at 653-2246 or Reva Fillmore at 687-2649.

Small Acreage Workshop


A small acreage workshop sponsored by USU Extension, Castle land RC&D Council and Intermountain Farmers Association will be held Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. at the College of Eastern Utah Student Center in Price. Food Handler’s Classes


Food handler’s classes will be held in Price on Feb. 27, and March 27, 2007 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Health Department office at 28 South 100 East, Price. Book Break

Orangeville Dog Licenses


Orangeville dog licenses are due for 2007. The cost is $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $25 for non-altered dogs. Please bring in current rabies information when licensing your dog. All dogs must be registered by March 1, afterwards an additional late fee will be charged of $25. A rabies clinic will be held on Feb. 10 at the new fire station from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Emery Town Vaccination Clinic


A vaccination clinic will be held Feb. 3 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the maintenance shed next to the old church. All dogs must have proof of current rabies vaccination at time of licensing. Licences must be purchased by March 1 to avoid $10 late fee.

Emergency Kits


Huntington Elementary is putting together Emergency Kits for each classroom. On Feb. 9 at the Valentines’ Carnival, the Sheriff’s Office is coming to explain and hand out a list of needed items. All parents are encouraged to attend.

Civil Air Patrol


The Castle Valley Composite Squadron volunteer organization with co-ed program is being offered for 11-18 year olds. Senior participation program is available also. The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for food and general vendors for the Emery County Fair which will be held Aug. 2, 3, and 4. To be and exclusive food vendor, you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office by March 23. Emery County Community Theater


The Emery County Community Theater will present Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Emery High Auditorium on Feb. 8,9, 10 and 12 at 7 p.m. There will be a Saturday matinee on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Ben Grimes Exhibit

Huntington Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2007 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on Feb. 24 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Local Veterans Employment Representative


A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
