Lifetime Emery County resident, Darcey Powell is an elementary school teacher who created a small business called “The Forbidden Fruit.” Located on Main Street in Cleveland, she specializes in gourmet caramel apples with a variety of toppings and has invented several “taste bud temptations” including Wand-a-fuls and Oh My Stars Bars.
Her products were first introduced to the public at the Emery County Fair in 2002. Since that time she has traveled to numerous fairs and festivals all over the state providing caramel apples, chocolate covered frozen bananas and fresh fruit lemonades for her customers.
Darcey was raised in Cleveland, the oldest of seven children. Her parents are Glen and Colleen Hansen. She is married to Gregg Powell and together they have six children. She graduated from Emery High School in 1972 and after raising her family she earned a bachelors degree from USU. She taught third grade last year at Sally Mauro Elementary in Helper.
She recently became a vendor for Associated Foods Retail Stores which means exciting growth for her company. She hopes to expand her business in Emery County.
