Riders for Santa
The Riders for Santa annual toy run will be held on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. The ride will start in Stewart’s parking lot in Castle Dale, then hot drinks and donuts in Orangeville. Lions Club Halloween Party
The Huntington Lions Club annual Halloween party will be held Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. at Main Street Park. They will provide the food and drinks, fun and games. They will also host a trunk or treat for residents to bring their own treats and participate. There will be prizes for the best costume.

Dedication of Veteran’s Monument
The dedication of the Veteran’s Monument, located at 70 North 100 East in Castle Dale is scheduled to be held on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. There will be a program honoring all Veterans.

Annual Christmas Festival
A Christmas Festival will be held at Emery Recreation Center, 74 South 400 East, Castle Dale on Nov. 2-3. Castle Dale Elementary Book Fair
Castle Dale Elementary’s Book Fair will be held Nov. 7-9. Look day is Nov. 7 during school hours, with parents night that evening from 6-8 p.m. Sales begin for students Nov. 8 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., closed during lunch and recess, and on Nov. 9 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., also closed during lunch and recess.
Flu Shots in Cleveland
Flu shots will be given at the Cleveland Elementary School on Nov. 1 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This is the only date and place flu shots will be available in Cleveland this year. Cost is $25 and some insurances will be billed.

College of Eastern Utah Announces The Return of Bread ‘n Soup Night
College of Eastern Utah is sponsoring its eighth annual Bread ‘N Soup Nights on Nov. 5, 12 and 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center with proceeds from the dinner going to the Carbon County Food Bank. For the three consecutive Mondays leading up to Thanksgiving, three soups and delicious breads are available to patrons. The cost is adults $5, students $3, meal-plan students $2 and children 8 years and under $2. Students, faculty and staff volunteer at the event to make sure as much money as possible is raised to contribute to the local charity.
Pi Kappa Alpha Game Ball Run
The members of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity welcome you to support their 19th annual Keven B. Kennedy Game Ball Run. This fundraising event is held in conjuction with the UofU vs. BYU football game. On Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. the “Pikes” will run a relay, carrying the rivalry game ball from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake to Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo. Attention Hunters
The annual Lily of the Valley, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers breakfast and lunch will be Nov. 3 at the Elmo Pioneer building, 55 South 100 East, Elmo. Spinal Care Classes
Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. They will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and is given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander’s office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.
Emerald Dream Ball National Search
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Emerald Dream Team is pleased to announce a National Search for 12 women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have a compelling story to tell. The women chosen will be whisked away, with a guest, to Las Vegas on Dec. 26, all expenses paid, for a week of absolute pampering and fun. Their week will end with a New Year’s Eve Ball thrown in their honor which has been deemed the Emerald Dream Ball. The application process will run through Nov. 8. Farm Bureau Essay Contest
The Emery County Farm Bureau announce the 2007 essay and creative story contest. The theme is Celebrating Agriculture. Entries should not exceed 1,000 words. Age groups are: K-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8, grades 9-12, and adult. Stories and essays may be illustrated. Entries are due Oct. 31. Mail entries to Barbra Jones, Box 1234, Huntington, UT 84528. Prizes will be awarded on a county level and winners will advance to the state level.

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. Share the Experience Photo Contest
The Utah Office of Tourism is encouraging amateur photographers with a love of Utah’s public lands to help promote the state’s beauty in a national contest. The Federal Lands Management Agencies, along with the Ford Motor Company and the National Park Foundation, are sponsoring the Share the Experience Photo Contest, honoring the best photos of American public lands. The contest is open to the public and accepting submissions until Dec. 31. A total of 14 photographs will be given awards for their excellence. The Grand Prize winning photograph will be printed on the 2009 Federal Recreation Lands Pass and the photographer will receive a new 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid.
