Georgene Reed, the red nosed rider, brings toys to the Orangeville City Park for Riders for Santa. |
The Riders for Santa have been riding for many years, gathering toys and money to give to the Circle of Hope in Emery County.
Their goal is to ensure no child is forgotten at Christmas time.
Event organizers, Annette Allen and Eric Anderson, work year round to make this ride a success.
They met at 10 a.m. on Nov. 10 in Stewart’s parking lot in Castle Dale. All of the participants decorate their motorcycles and wear festive hats. Their first stop in the city park in Orangeville to pose for pictures and pile up the toys. The riders are treated to donuts and hot chocolate and they prepare for the next leg of the journey.
Anderson said, “This is so much fun to do for the kids. This year, the Mexican restaurant, El Mexicano, in Salina got together and donated a bunch of toys too. We have had several cash donations and we really appreciate everyone who donated.”
Following the hot chocolate and doughnut stop, the group proceeded to Green River where more toys awaited at Ray’s Tavern. The bonus in that stop is to rest and have a cheeseburger.
On the return trip, the riders took a side trip into the Capitol Reef area in Wayne County and came home over the Hogan Pass.
In all, the cash donations amounted to $320 along with all the toys.
