DUP Christmas
The Emery County Company of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will hold their annual Christmas party on Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. If you want to participate In an Old Fashioned Cookie Exchange bring two dozen cookies and take home a variety. There will be singing, Christmas stories and a delicious lunch. Don’t miss this Old Fashioned Christmas event.
Defensive Driving Classes Now Available
The Utah Safety Council is now offering a four-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on Dec. 12 at the Castleview Hospital Classroom located at 300 N. Hospital Drive, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The four-hour course consists of classroom instruction and focuses on accident prevention, driving confidence, awareness of hazards and improving driving skills. Drivers may complete the course for a 50-point reduction from their Utah driving record, once every three years. Individuals 55 years of age and older, may qualify for insurance discounts after completing the course.

Green River Celebrates with Santa and First Annual Light Parade
Dec. 5 at the Fire House is the Santa Giveaway it starts at 11 a.m.
Dec. 5 at 6 p.m is the First Annual Christmas Light Parade at the Fire House. Light up your vehicle of choice and join in. If you would like to join in pick up a parade entry form at Green River City Hall. After the parade there will be hot chocolate and cookies at the City Park.
Ferron City Christmas Party and Cookie Contest
Ferron City will be holding their annual Christmas party on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at Ferron Elementary. They will also be holding a cookie contest. Bring in a dozen cookies to be judged. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

CEU Web Design Class

CEU will begin registration on Nov. 18 for a Web Design Class. The course discusses basic Web Page Design concepts and provides hands-on experience for creating and publishing your own web site.

Angel tree
Cleveland town will be accepting names for the angel tree this holiday season. If you know of a needy family or individual in our town, please submit their name, age and gender to the town office. Angels will be available at the town office after December 1st. The date to return your wrapped gift to the town office is December 19th. If you have any questions, please call or stop by the town office during business hours, Tues, Wed. & Thurs from 11:30 to 5:00.
Cleveland’s Annual Christmas Party & Program
Cleveland town will hold its annual Christmas party on Thursday, December 24th at 6:00 pm at the town hall. There will be a short program, light refreshments and of course Santa will make a special visit. Come and join our fun family holiday tradition.
Orangeville City’s Community Christmas Chile/Soup Cook Off
Saturday Dec. 5.
Sign-ups for the chile/soup cook-off will be at the city hall. Please sign up on or before Dec. 4.
Chile and soups will be accepted between 3-3:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Community Center. Please bring at least one gallon, they will be using them to serve at the dinner portion of the Community’s Christmas Party.
The judging will be at 4 p.m. at the old Fire Station/Community Center.
Childrens crafts from 4-5 p.m. at the City Hall.
From 5-7 p.m. the chile and soup dinner will be served.

Huntington City will be holding its annual Christmas party on Dec. 4. at Huntington Elementary. The free dinner will be from 6-7 p.m. with a Christmas program and a visit by Santa following the dinner.

Auditions for “HONK”
The Untold Story of the Ugly Duckling
Auditions will be held Dec. 1 and 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
This is a family show with ages 8 and up – including adults. If you have a child younger that would like to be in the show, if cast, a parent must be present with the child every rehearsal – no exceptions.

Emery County Aquatic Center Mom-N-Tot Pool Day
A mom-n-tot pool day hosted by the Emery County Aquatic Center for Tots up to kindergarten age will be held on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. beginning on Nov. 17. If you have an interest in this activity please let the pool know so they can arrange for lifeguards. 381-swim (7946).

Emery High School Drama Announces Upcoming Plays
The big news is that we are doing “Hello Dolly” on Nov. 19, 20, 21. This will be a big cast musical with 35 people involved. Karly Urie is Dolly and Colton Leavitt is Horace Vandergelder. We are also planning on doing a comedy/drama “Lost In Yonkers” in late January or early February.
Forest Service Begins Christmas Tree Sales
Christmas tree permits will go on sale Nov. 23 at the Ferron District Office and Price Supervisor’s Office of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Permits will cost $10 and can be purchased during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Ferron and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Price.
In addition, the Price office will open two Saturdays, Nov. 28 and Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Christmas tree tag sales.
Customers should come prepared to pay with correct change or a check. The Forest Service cannot accept credit or debit cards, or make change.
The Forest officer selling tags will issue each purchaser cutting instructions. Customers traveling long distances for permits should call in advance to determine if permits are still available. Vehicle access, except for snow machines, must be confined to established roads on the Forest. Roads may be muddy, snow packed and slick. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.
Orangeville Youth City Council
Youth City Council has a new advisor, Carmen Humphrey. The council is open to youth in Orangeville 7 through 12 grades.

PREHISTORY WEEK POSTER CONTEST
Utah State History announces the 2010 Utah Prehistory Week Poster Contest. The winning poster will be professionally printed anddistributed nationwide to promote Utah’s unique past. Every year during the first full week of May, Prehistory Week celebrates Utah’s rich archaeological, paleontological, and cultural resources. Events all over the state include lectures, programs, activities, demonstrations, and tours.
The poster contest is open to all ages. Entrants may choose any material, design, or medium, but the principal elements of the design should depict aspects of Utah archaeology, and entries should be less than 16″ wide and 24″ long. Winners in three categories will receive cash prizes: grand prize winner: $250; secondary school winner: $100; elementary school winner: $100.
Posters should be submitted no later than January 7, 2010, to:
