New poaching cases in Southeastern Utah
Since early December, three new poaching incidents have come under investigation by Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers.
Sgt. Casey Mickelsen is investigating the illegal shooting of a mature buck deer, which he located about one mile west of the Grassy Lake turn-off above Joes Valley Reservoir in the Manti LaSal National Forest.
The buck was left to waste, except that the skull cap and antlers had been removed. If you have any information about this case, please call Sgt. Mickelsen at: 435-820-6010.
Conservation Officer Ben Riley is seeking information leading to the suspect(s) responsible for two wasted bull elk that were dumped on Stump Flat just west of the town of Huntington in Emery County. These elk were most likely killed during the spike muzzleloader season. If you have information about these wasted animals, please call Officer Riley at: 435-820-6014.
In early December, Sgt. J. Shirley located two buck deer that had been poached about a week earlier in Lisbon Valley just off County Road #305 in San Juan County. Only the antlers were removed.
