VERNAL-Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Don R. Owen, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Vernal, Utah on Dec. 16, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born Nov. 27, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles Henry Owen and Earline Hull. He married Josie Irene Brinkman, later divorced. He served in the United States Army as a military police in the Korean War.
Don worked diligently throughout his life in many different professions, but his most loved profession was that of an aviator. He was a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses; and was very active and zealous in the ministry work. Don was admired for his honesty and integrity.
Survived by seven brothers, four sisters, and eight children; Joseph (Cindy) Owen, Roy, Utah; Earlene (Keven) Mason, Huntington, Utah; Peggy Owen, Holtville, Calif.; Christine (Nick) Manning, Orangeville, Utah; Gary Owen, Portland, Ore.; Warren Owen, Wellington/Vernal, Utah; Jerry (Kimberly) Owen, St. George, Utah; Michael (Karina) Owen, Los Angeles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 232 E. 1500 N., Vernal, Utah. Friends called one hour prior to services.
