EASTCARBON-DelMarie Vigil Bustos has been welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband and children on Feb. 17, 2011.
She grew up on a farm in Capulin, Colo. where she loved to ride horses and help her father herd cattle to the pasture. She was the third oldest daughter of an extended family of nine born on Feb. 12, 1921.
DelMarie married her one true love, Raymond Bustos on Aug. 22, 1938 in Alamosa, Colo. Together they had five children, but due to childhood diseases only one survived. Although they endured great pain at the loss of their children, they found it within themselves to open their heart and home to caring for foster children.
She enriched her life by helping people as a LPN, working at various hospitals in California and Utah; later retiring at Carbon Hospital. She had a passion for gardening and was often complimented on the beauty of her yard. She was very charitable, donating to many organizations. She made wonderful Greek cookies and delicious pumpkin rolls. DelMarie loved to travel taking many trips, her favorite being her trip to Holland. She also loved to gamble spending many hours playing video poker.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Tony) Rendon of Sunnyside, Utah; son, Willie Martinez, Pueblo, Colo.; sister, Cecelia Pollock, Midvale, Utah; brother, Eddie Vigil, Midvale, Utah; nine grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bustos; parents, Tomas Vigil and Adelina Chavez; children, Connie, Marino, Tommy, and stillborn baby; two sisters and five brothers.
