EAST CARBON- Joseph Jr. Wood passed away peacefully June 7, 2011 in Orem, Utah.
He was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Dove Creek, Colo. to Joseph Franklin Wood and Ora Gladys Bain.
Married Lena Donella Mae Adams Sept. 9, 1949 in Price. She passed away Aug. 4, 2006.
Joe worked for US Steel for more than 30 years at the Columbia Utah Mine, Horse Canyon Mine and the Sommerset Mine in Colorado. He loved working in the mine and had many great friends and many great stories to tell. Joe could always be found in Huntington Canyon with a fishing pole in hand, and a grandchild in the other.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Joe had six children, five sons, Duane (Connie) Wood, Price, Darrell Wood, Orangeville, Donald (Roberta) Wood, Farmington, N.M., Larry (Elaine) Wood, East Carbon, Terry (Tracy) Wood, East Carbon, and one daughter, Michelle (Mike) Lovell, Riverton, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donella Wood; and son, Darrell Wood; eight sisters and one brother.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 10, 2011, 10 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside, Utah. The family received friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Joe at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
