On June 10 at 11:42 a.m. a motorcyclist failed to negotiate the wide turn on the north end of SR-10 heading into Castle Dale. He was traveling south with a group of motorcycles at the time of the accident. The cyclist behind him said he saw him brake, but he didn’t turn and headed straight and went off the other side of the road. Luckily there wasn’t any oncoming traffic at the time he crossed the northbound lane. It isn’t known why he failed to turn. Trooper Don Barry is investigating the accident. Rider fatigue or inattentiveness could be the cause.
Emery County ambulance personnel and sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene.
When he left the road he hit a ditch and flipped the bike. He sustained a left leg injury, broken arm and head trauma. He was wearing a full face mask helmet at the time of the accident.
Douglas Lund from Provo was taken to Castleview Hospital in Price by ambulance. He is 54 years old. He was riding a rented Harley at the time of the accident.
