Cottonwood Creek kayakers

"June 25 down stream from Joe's Valley Dam several kayakers were seen unloading kayaks in preparation to float on the rapidly moving waters of Cottonwood Creek due to the overflow from Joe's Valley Dam. The river in Straight Canyon West of Orangeville was over flood stage. It is in a deep canyon with towering rock walls. Along the shore are sandstone rocks, sagebrush, chokecherry bushes, cottonwood trees and pine trees. The kayakers that got their kayaks into the fast moving stream bounced around like rubber balls into and around the large rocks in and along the edges of the river. They all seemed excited to experience the waters of Cottonwood Creek. No one was reported injured in this dangerous sport. "
