Emery County Senior Citizens day was held at the Huntington City Park Sept. 7.
Seniors came from all over the county to enjoy one another’s company, a great meal of lamb fry, barbecued chicken strips, salads, watermelon, cantaloupe, and a variety of desserts.
Seniors said, “This was a great luncheon and thanks go to all the directors of Senior Citizens Centers around the county that brought seniors in buses and participated in preparing and serving the food.”
Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth welcomed everyone and introduced Al Shakespaere who had taken time off from work to entertain the group.
He sang and danced to many familiar songs. He even sang some Elvis Presley songs while shaking his legs similar to Elvis.
Maughn Guymon, director for the division of aging was on hand to see that all went well.
Commissioners James Nelson and Jeff Horrocks also arrived to participate in the luncheon.
Kent and Julie Wilson of BKs in Huntington catered the meal.
Some of the assisting cooks were Gary Kofford, Willard Tharp, Lana McQuivey, Laurie Pitchforth, Kent Wilson, Eric and Marie Anderson.
