The 2012 high school volleyball season came to an end last week for the Emery Spartans with a region loss at San Juan. That loss sealed Emery’s fate for the season as the game was a must win for the Spartans in order to force a play-in game with Grand High School. Grand defeated San Juan the night before to put the pressure on the Emery team.
The final results for region 15 this season were Richfield in first place with an 8-0 record, South Sevier second with a 5-3 record, San Juan third with a 4-4 record, Grand fourth with a 2-6 record and Emery in the final spot with a 1-7 record. The first four teams make the state tournament.
Emery lost to San Juan in three straight games to end their season. The scores of the games were 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16.
In the state tournament this week, all four region 15 teams could make the final eight, as the region is the strongest in 2-A volleyball. Other teams to watch are Enterprise with a 28-3 record, North Summit with a 23-5 record and Millard with a 16-9 record. Richfield finished at 23-5 and South Sevier finished at 18-12.
Richfield ended the state volleyball tourney in first place with Enterprise in second place.
Beaver took third place in the state tourney.
North Summit finished in fourth place.
San Juan finished in fifth place with Kanab in sixth place. Millard took seventh place and Gunnison finished the season in eighth place.
The state tournament was held at the Utah Valley University in Orem over the weekend.
