HUNTINGTON/WOODS CROSS-Alene Edwards Hansen Merrill returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on March 23, 2013. Alene was born Dec. 10, 1938 to John Wesley and Mildred Edwards in Huntington, Utah. She married H. Roger Hansen on Nov. 8, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Roger passed away on Aug. 1, 1991.
Alene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. Mom lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and enjoyed playing and teaching her grandkids canasta, dominoes, and all kinds of board games. She looked forward to camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with her family. If you haven’t had your picture taken by her, then you haven’t met Mom.
She married Paul Merrill on Sept. 22, 2000 in the Manti LDS Temple, and gained a loving family. She fulfilled many service missions and completed her dream of traveling the country. She worked 20 years at the Desertview Federal Credit Union and made many life-long friends.
Alene is survived by her husband, Paul; children: Brad Hansen, Kyle (Glenda) Hansen, Jamie Bingham, Garrett (Cindy) Hansen, Darcy (Bryon) Pierce, Paul Jr. (Jenny) Merrill, Chuck (Michelle) Merrill, Ronald (Andria) Merrill, Rodney (Wendy) Merrill, Christian (Suzanne) Merrill, David (Julie) Merrill, Julie (Richard) Love, and Steven (Melissa) Merrill; 39 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings: John (Liz) Edwards, Earl (Glenda) Hansen, Judy Divin, Jim (Karen) Hansen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; and in-laws Harold and Cleonda Hansen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center (240 North Main Street). There will be a viewing at the Stake Center on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, also at the Stake Center, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Alene at www.fausettmortuary.com.
