On July 27, at approximately 6:30 PM at milepost 199 I-70 eastbound. A 1991 Chevy Beretta was driven by 19 year old Edward Lyman from Clifton, Colorado. The Beretta was in the right lane, traveling at a slow speed.
The driver of the Beretta made a sudden lane change to attempt entry at a freeway turnaround on the left.
The Beretta was hit broadside in the driver side door by a Hyundai Sonata traveling at highway speed in the left lane.
The Hyundai was registered out of Colorado and was occupied by two females. The occupants of the Hyundai were not injured, but the driver of the Beretta died from injuries sustained in the crash.
