Bruce, a 92 year old resident of Price, Utah, passed away on Oct. 28, 2016. Bruce was born at home on July 22, 1924 in Price, Utah. He was the second son of Rulon Anthon “Tony” Bryner and Lillis “Lou” Abiah Morley Bryner. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Central School, Harding School, Price Junior High School, Carbon High School, Carbon College (College of Eastern Utah) and BYU where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credential. After college, Bruce went to Paris, Idaho where he was a teaching principal for a few years. Missing his home town, Bruce moved back to Price, Utah and worked for the Utah Railway as a clerk for over 40 years. Bruce also served in the Army during WWII.
Bruce was a Charter Member of the Castle Valley Community Theater, and was the secretary and treasurer for over 30 years. Bruce loved community theater, and performed in many plays. Bruce was also a 60 plus year member of the Lion’s Club, and chaired many charitable events for the club. Bruce owned property at Scofield Reservoir and was a member of the board of directors for the Scofield Campsite Association for over 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, and the Price Tabernacle.
One of Bruce’s greatest joys in his life was being able to attend the opening of the Bryner Pioneer Museum which opened on his 92nd birthday this year. Bruce donated the house for the museum, which is a tribute to the Bryner pioneer heritage, something Bruce was very proud of.
Bruce loved to travel and spend time with his family. Bruce was loved by everyone who knew him. He touched the lives of many in a positive way. Bruce is survived by his younger sister, Jolene Bryner Hannah of West Covina, California; and two nephews, Mitchell Blinn Hannah (Hallie) of Mission Viejo, California, Jared Wayne Hannah, of Covina, California; grandniece, Madeline Brooke Hannah; grandnephews, Jeffrey Harrison and Daniel Bryner Hannah, of Mission Viejo, California. Preceded in death by his parents; one older brother, Albert “Bert” Morley Bryner; one younger sister Louise Bryner Moffitt; and nephew Wallis Stewart Hannah.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Price 10th Ward, 449 North 100 East, Price, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
A graveside service will take place following the funeral service at Price City Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Bruce at www.fausettmortuary.com.
