The Lady Spartan golf team made their way to the Carbon County Country Club for their region meet on Monday.
They faced off with other teams from their region including Richfield, Grand, Manti, San Juan, and South Sevier.
Six golfers participated today including Lainee Jensen, Raegan Sitterud, Teah Lowery, Kayla Winn, Angie Nielson and Sydney Alton.
The Spartans are coached by Coach Scott Lofley and Coach Tom Hansen; other players include: Emelyn Oliverson, Abby Snow, , Jordynn Wolford, Madisyn Mann, Maci Nielson, Lydia Winget, Talyn Scott, Callee Jeffs.
It was a cold and windy day at Carbon country club golf course on Monday. However, the Emery High Girls golf team had their best 18 hole team score of the season. “These girls have been working hard to improve all season. They are a very coachable group and get along great as a team. It has been a joy to witness the improvement and skills they have developed.” Coach Tom Hansen. Angie Nielson said, “I love golf. It’s the best part of my day. It’s so fun to see us all get better everyday.” The girls started the season with a nine hole score of 245 or an 18 hole cumulative of 490. Monday at Carbon they shot an 18 hole solid team score of 409 (that is an 81 stroke improvement from the first match).
Senior Lainee Jensen led the team with a 90. Lainee also was the regions only Academic All State selection. Lainee took Home the 6th place overall season placer in the region. The Region Tournament was the last Tournament prior to the State Tournament which will be held on May 8-9 at Cove View golf course in Richfield. Emery will enter the State Tournament as the #2 seed from region 15. Team region tournament and season totals followed by individual Scores from the region tournament.
