PRICE – Our beloved sister, aunt and longtime friend, Bessie Nickas, 92, passed away at home on Sept. 29, 2018.
She was born Oct. 2, 1925 in Black Hawk, Utah to Louis and Mary Protopappas Nickas.
Bessie was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School and Carbon College. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Bessie retired from JC Penney’s in Price and was a staunch supporter of the local steel workers where she was the past Secretary and President. “May Her Memory Be Eternal.”
Bessie is survived by her sister, Vera Nickas, brother, Art (Madeleine) Nickas, all of Price; niece, Lisa (Dwight) Rasmussen, Sandy; nephews, Louis and Mike Nickas, both of Price, George Nickas (Leslie Worf), Missoula, MT; two grandnieces and 2 grandnephews, Christa Nickas, Madeleine Rasmussen, Michael Nickas and Peter (Rachel) Rasmussen; great-great-grandnephew, Nikolas Rasmussen.
Preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, George Nickas.

Funeral service, Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. Trisagion service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
