Hallet to speak at Powell Museum


Eileen Hallet Stone will speak at the J.W. Powell Museum in Green River on March 15 at 4 p.m. Her topic will be “A Homeland in the West: Utah Jews Remember.” There is no charge. This event is being sponsored by the Utah Humanities Council and the Green River American Legion.

Health Career Exploration Camp


The Utah AHEC program at Southern Utah University is looking for high school students interested in pursuing a health care career. On June 16-18, AHEC will host their fifth annual Health Career Exploration Camp on the campus of SUU. All high school students are welcome to attend. Emery High RodeoTeam


Emery High Rodeo Team will host its annual high school rodeo April 18-19. They are looking for students interested in joining the team, anyone wishing to make a donation or to help sponsor the team. Jackman Music Corporation is sponsoring a music composition contest. Submissions should be original choral pieces centering on one of two themes: Missionary Work: Dedication In the Lord’s Service or Missionary Work: Raising the Bar. Submissions should be written in SAB format and have a level of difficulty accessible to ward choir type groups. Winning entries will be awarded royalty contracts and published. Genealogy Conference at BYU


Genealogy experts and beginners can observe the latest in technology during the sixth annual Computerized Genealogy Conference Mar. 13-14 at Brigham Young University. Workshops, speakers and vendors will provide updated information and training on genealogical software programs, computer databases, email and the internet. They will also review existing programs and evaluate new programs. Hands on labs will be offered in the evenings on Mar 13-14 and on Mar. 15 for an additional cost. Defensive Driving Classes


The Utah Safety Council is now offering a 4-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on March 22 at the College of Eastern Utah from 8 a.m.-noon. CEU Scholarship Deadline


College of Eastern Utah Alumni Association announces that there are two tuition scholarships available through the Alumni Association for the 2003-04 school year. These scholarships are made possible through proceeds from the CEU Alumni Wildman Golf Tournament held last fall. Applications and informational brochures are available at the counselors office at Emery High. The application deadline is April 1.

Romeo and Juliet in Price


The Utah Shakespearean Festival’s “Shakespeare-in-the-Schools” program will present its touring production of Romeo and Juliet April 15 at the Price Civic Auditoruim. The performance is sponsored by the Price City Culture Connection and the Carbon School District and is free to the public.

Days of ’47 Pageant


The Emery Company and County Camps of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers are looking for young women that are eligible to compete in the Days of ’47 Queen Pageant. You must be at least 18 years of age and have pioneer ancestors that came to Utah before 1869. The US Forest Service’s State and Private Forestry Office and Utah State Forester announced that communities may begin applying for 2003 Rural Community Assistance and National Fire Plan Economic Action Program grants.
