Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. takes a look at the new Cabela’s store in Lehi. |
At the media preview and VIP ceremony at the new Cabela’s Store which recently opened in Lehi, Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. was on hand to welcome the store to Utah. “This store is more of an experience than just a store,” said Gov. Huntsman. “In Utah, which ranks third in the nation, per capita, for outdoor enthusiasts, Cabela’s embodies that outdoor spirit.”
“This store is likely to attract four million visitors per year, and I want to say thanks for helping me make one of my campaign promises come true. I am excited about the future, and welcome to Utah,” said Gov. Huntsman.
Among the other dignitaries who welcomed Cabela’s to Utah were Lehi Mayor Kenneth Greenwood, Utah County Commissioner Larry Ellertson, Utah Congressman Jim Matheson, and Utah Senator Orrin Hatch.
Mike Callahan, Cabela’s senior vice president, said, “We are grateful to all the people involved in making this happen. This is our first western store due to the fact that we have a large catalog sales base in Utah.
“If this store sees the same results as the others, it will have visitors from all 50 states in the US, and many visitors from other countries. Our Pennsylvania, Kansas and Michigan stores are the number one tourist attractions in their states. In Wisconsin, Cabela’s is number two for visitors. We have an unmatched selection and our greatest achievement is our customer service. Now with this store, the catalog comes to life and we are excited to be here in Utah,” said Callahan.
