The Spartan defense wraps up the Canyon View runner.

The Emery High Spartans played their second straight home game and lost 33-6 to the Canyon View Falcons in a non-region football game.
The highlight of the game, of course, was the first touchdown of the year for Emery as Dave Justice threw an 11-yard pass to tight end Tyler Service as the time ran out in the game. The touch down was set up by a great kickoff return by Tyler Swenson for another highlight.
Swenson appeared to bobble the kickoff for just a second which sometimes works to your favor as the blocking sat up and Swenson returned the kick about 70 yards.
The third highlight of the game came at the end of the first half as Justice intercepted a Canyon View pass and took it about 80 yards to the Emery 10- yard line. Unfortunately, time ran out before Emery could muster any offense.
Emery ran the ball 25 times in the game for a total of three yards as the Falcon defense keyed on Emery’s quarterback and shut down the option offense. Emery threw the ball 11 times and completed 7 of those for 54 yards. Josh Eden caught three passes; Service and Swenson caught two each.
Canyon View was able to rush the ball for 426 yards and completed three passes for another 45 yards. Emery had switched their defense from a 4-3 to a 6-2 during the week leading up to the game.
Emery is at home again this week as they host the Provo Bulldogs Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
